Teodora Velescu studied Choreographic Art at Degree level and Choreography and Performance in Dance at M.A. level at the National University of Theatrical and Cinematic Art in Bucharest. She specialised in classical dance at the Floria Capsali Choreography Lycée, and since 2011 she has worked with numerous state cultural institutions, including Bucharest National Opera, Bucharest National Theatre, the Children’s Comic Opera, and the Bucharest National Dance Centre.
She has performed in dance productions whose directors and choreographers include Francisc Valkay, George Iancu, Vasily Medvedev, Simona Șomăcescu, Amalia Strinopoulou, Gigi Căciuleanu, Arcadie Rusu, Ioana Marchidan, Simona Deaconescu, Dan Puric, Beth Sol, Bogdan Nicula, and Andrea Gavriliu. She has taken part in national and international festivals, including F.N.T., Undercloud, PlusDans 2017, International Fringe Fest (Israel), Altofest (Italy), and Off Europa (Germany). She has designed the choreography for Brainstorm, directed by George Lepădatu, and Captain Amazing, directed by Nicolae Tănase.
She is currently a member of the Tangaj Dance Collective, part of the cast of Daughters. She also works with the Linotype Independent Choreography Centre and performs in BABEL, Shaping Sound, Promised Land, Nesomn, BASMa Curată, and Humans | Bodies | Images.
She views movement as an integral part of her personality, and understanding and decoding the secrets of the body is her motivation in her every encounter with dance. Her pleasure in working with other people is nurtured by her desire to share her discoveries with them.
