Began studying the piano at the age of 6 in his natal city, Poliești, under the guidance of Professors Natalia Mocănescu and Cristian Duca. His first notable results were within the Concours International Musical de France (Paris, 2009), where he was awarded First Place, and within the Concours International Music Masters Interprètes (Paris, 2012), where he was awarded the Special Prize of the Jury. Currently, Daniel Dumitrașcu is a 3rd-year student at the National University of Music in Bucharest, where he studies the piano with Professors Viniciu Moroianu, Steluța Radu, and Adriana Maier. Over the years, he had the opportunity to participate in the master classes of iconic pianists such as Roland Präll, Thomas Bockheller, Diana Ketler, Tobias Haunhorst, Csiki Boldizsar, Josu de Solaun, among many others.
He made his debut as a soloist with orchestra at the age of 16, alongside the Paul Constantinescu Philarmonic Orchestra in Ploiești. He is constantly performing in piano recitals, in Chamber Music ensembles, and as an accompanist on stages in Romania, France, Italy, Greece, Austria, the Netherlands, and Germany. In July 2022, he made his debut in the famous Salle Cortot in Paris, within the Académie Internationale de Musique de Paris.
Recently, Daniel won 2nd Place at the international Orbetello Competition in Tuscany, Italy. In the summer of 2023, he was admitted to the courses of the Internationale Sommerakademie für Kammermusik in Germany, where he will have the chance to work with renowned Professors such as Eberhard Feltz and Dirk Mommertz. One of Daniel’s most important achievements is being admitted as an Erasmus exchange student to the Royal Danish Academy of Music, where he will be studying come autumn 2023. Daniel also received a scholarship within the Young Talents program organized by the Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation, wihin Sonoro, and within UNIMIR.
